Becky Poole
Becky Poole is an actor, voice actor/director, performing artist, writer, feminist murder balladeer, storyteller, and musical saw player. She began writing murder ballads in the early aughts with her take on Omie Wise called “Omie Homage” - giving Naomi the upper hand. Her writing has progressed from script-flipping exercises to thoughtful musings on how our cultural systems fail us. Becky believes that by amplifying contemporary stories of female/femme violence (perpetrated by and thrust upon them) using oral traditions through an intersectional feminist lens, we will create new songs, myths, and allegories in which a woman* is not merely the dead object or but the whole subject. You can hear her in the narrative podcast "Hobo Code" or in various cartoons and video games. She also played the saw in St. Vincent and Carrie Brownstein's "The Nowhere Inn."
*Aims to include anyone who has identified as a woman, female, or femme at any point in their journey.
